What are LED modules?

LED modules are professional, reliable light sources intended to illuminate advertising or stretch ceilings. Modern LED modules are hermetic and equipped with a strong lens. This lens, depending on the function of the LED module, disperses or focuses light. LED modules usually have the structure of hermetic meshes with lenses connected by a cable. These features make them suitable for outdoor use as well as for free arrangement of irregular shapes of illuminated letters and LED light boxes inside.

A very important element of the module are LED lenses.
Modules used for light boxes ;w and letters are usually placed on the back of the light box, i.e. the bottom inner part of the advertisement. Such modules should have a strong lens - so that the light is dispersed.

What features do LED modules have? 

- LED modules are durable and resistant to damage - they have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, which means they do not need to be replaced often.
In addition, they are resistant to moisture, dust, shocks and temperature changes, which makes them suitable for external and internal applications.

- They are equipped with strong lenseswhich usually scatter the light, making it possible to illuminate even the shallowest illuminated letters and LED boxes.

- They are connected with a flexible cable allowing for their free arrangement inside the advertisement.

- They have a uniform, repeatable light color to obtain perfect white or a typical daylight color to illuminate the face in warm colors.

- They are energy-saving and they do not heat up, ensuring safety of use and the possibility of using them inside closed spaces and flammable plastics.

- They are equipped with a strong double-sided tape on the bottom surface, so they can be easily and quickly and permanently stuck to any surface. Additionally, the modules are equipped with a screw hole to screw them to the surface

What is the advantage of LED modules over LED strips?

What are the differences between LED modules?

- Power

It is much faster and easier to use a few high-power LED modules than to use a lot of small and weak modules. However, such a possibility exists if we are sure that strong LED modules spaced far apart will provide even surface illumination. The effect of even illumination with a small number of bright lights can usually be achieved with deeper light boxes (over 10 cm) and modules with a very strong lens. In the case of such structures, you can use modules BIG EYE 5W LED module   As we lower the depth of the box or illuminated letters, we must use correspondingly lower power and strong diffusing lenses.

- Type and quality of lenses

The modules can be used to illuminate from the back of the light box - backlight or from the edge (edge modules). Therefore, the way the ad is illuminated is defined by the type of module and its lenses. The distances we have to illuminate also determine the degree of light dispersion and, consequently, the power of the lens. In the case of the implementation of shallow cassettes, modules with a strong lens are recommended, such as Module MEGA LENS 1W 175°. - Degree of airtightness

Most modules are tightly closed in a plastic housing and have an IP67 or IP68 rating, which means that they are resistant to flooding with a stream of water, such as dripping water in rain or immersion in water. Only rope modules are not water resistant, but our company can effectively increase their water resistance level thanks to the unique technology developed

- The color of light

LED modules have a uniform and repeatable light color and are available in various color temperatures and colors. All modules of a given model are manufactured based on one repeatable, tested LED chip. These chips are purchased by manufacturers in one huge batch to ensure uniform color and brightness. LED modules are offered in the following colors:
3000K warm
4000K - neutral / daylight
6500K - hardly noticeable content of chamomile tint
8000K and 9000K - typical pure white light
12000K - light turning blue

- Length of cables

Sufficiently long cables between modules allow the modules to be placed at large distances from each other. Sufficiently short allows you to avoid the problem of too long cables and their additional wrapping

- Supply voltage

Typically, the modules are powered by 12V.  However, 24V modules are increasingly used. Modules powered by 24V are much more resistant to voltage drops. This allows you to connect modules at the factory into much larger chains, e.g. up to 50 or 100 pieces. Thanks to this, we can save time on connecting subsequent circuits of LED modules to the power supply.
 
 
 

How to choose the right LED modules?

Choosing the optimal modules for advertising is not an easy matter. To facilitate the selection of modules for advertising, we have written a tool that will guide you through the process of selecting appropriate LED modules for advertising -

In order to gradually find the answer to the question of which modules we need to use, we need to obtain answers to specific questions:

- Ad type

First of all, you should consider what type of ad you want to highlight. Is it a single-sided box, a double-sided box or maybe 3D letters?

- Ad depth

The distance between the back of the coffer, 3D letters and the face, measured in cm. This distance determines how much space the module has to the face so as to illuminate the advertisement freely and evenly.
The depth of the advertisement directly affects the power of the LED modules used and the quality of the required lens.
For ads with depth:

• 12cm - optimal 2W or even 5W modules. Generally, all modules are suitable at this height - although the use of small modules connected with short cables will not make sense due to the time consumption and cost .
• About 10cm - this is the optimal working area for 1.2W modules, even with any lens above 140 degrees
• Up to 8 centimeters from the face, 1W modules with a decent lens, i.e. above 160 degrees, will work perfectly
• Up to 6 cm, the most optimal will be modules with a power of 0.72 W and a lens also above 160 degrees
• Up to 5 cm Modules with an extremely strong lens such as MEGA LENS 1W 175 degrees
• Up to 3cm is the task of the moduleFAST BAR 180° or for small dense modules for letters like MINI 1 LENS or MINI 2 LENS module

- Light color

Most modules are available in several versions of color temperature, usually:
3000K - warm
4000K - neutral
6500K or 8000K cold
- Supply voltage  
Larger projects should be carried out using 24V modules - this will allow you to save time by connecting much larger bundles of LED modules (factory connected in 50 or 100 pieces)

 
 

Selection of modules for double-sided cassettes:

Double-sided light boxes are usually illuminated with two opposite rows of modules which fill the advertisement evenly with light

When producing double-sided light boxes, up to 130 cm between the light sources and the width modules up to 10 cm are recommended SEMAFOR 1.2W
These modules have a strong focused lens but limited power to 1.2W, so they are perfect for small and medium-sized but narrow double-sided light boxes.
